Friday, April 4, 2025 - Crash Taylor
Crash Taylor brings an authentic spirit to his music, armed with a husky baritone and seasoned guitar playing that resonates with folk and rock enthusiasts.
Starting his musical journey at the age of five with the banjo, Crash quickly became immersed in his family’s vibrant traditional music scene. Music was a constant presence in his life—at family gatherings, social events, and holidays. By age eight, he was performing with the family band, Generation Gap, at ice cream parlors and community events, honing his craft and stage presence before diving into rock music as a teenager. In his 20’s, Crash was part of This Is It, a psychedelic funk band that played the east coast college scene.
A passionate songwriter from a young age, Crash began penning poetry and songs before he hit double digits. His dedication to songwriting has resulted in an impressive catalog of over 1,000 songs, reflecting a wide range of themes from politics and love to creativity and family dynamics. His storytelling ability captures the essence of life’s complexities and joys. His writing also includes volumes of poetry and short stories as well as the novel, “Pot Dot Com”.
Crash's first recording, a self-titled project, was created for personal fulfillment without plans for release. Leaning heavily on grunge sounds and every mix trick in the book, “Crash Taylor” is a throwback to the 90s. A slight mellowing over time has drawn Crash back to his acoustic roots and his second album, “Retired Outlaw” relies heavily on piano, organ and acoustic guitar with the occasional screaming Les Paul. A third album, to be released in 2025, “Let’s Take the Time” has similar orchestration with the addition of banjo and dobro. Once again, with complex vocal arrangements and heartfelt delivery over rock-solid rhythm sections, he continues to enchant listeners, proving that music is a universal language that transcends genres and speaks to the heart.
